The handle is shaped on two sides, tapering toward the end you hold. This shape has evolved and proven itself over the centuries. When in use, the taper triggers a reflex in your hand that prevents the handle from slipping away. This makes it easier to handle. Although it is not made entirely from natural materials, it serves a practical and important purpose here. It is exceptionally sturdy, adjustable in stages and built for the toughest use.
