For eco-conscious weeding in small beds or raised beds, the asparagus and weed knife is an indispensable tool. The white asparagus is cut just above the crown through the raised ridge of soil, then pulled out by hand. The visible shoots of green asparagus can be harvested with little effort, and troublesome weeds can be removed deep in the soil.
There are plenty of garden tools, but garden tools of this quality are rare. These tools are made by one of Europe’s oldest family businesses. The products stand for durability and resilience, not mass production. No plastic. No chemicals. No cheap sheet metal. Made by skilled craftspeople, for skilled craftspeople. A tool that brings the centuries-old craft tradition of the blacksmiths’ guild to life.

Tip: The hanging hole in the handle allows for tidy, space-saving storage.

  • Harvesting asparagus
  • Removing weeds
  • Deep penetration
  • Made of durable steel with a high-quality untreated ashwood handle
  • Hand-forged by a German family business

Please note: For safety reasons, we cannot supply our cutting and chopping tools fully sharpened.
Maintaining the cutting edge is especially important for handmade tools. We have put together a detailed guide to peening and honing.

The asparagus and weed knife is made of hand-forged Swedish steel, which is exceptionally durable and robust thanks to its special treatment. When the asparagus tips are barely visible as they break through the ridge, carefully remove the soil around the asparagus by hand and hold it between your fingers. Guide the knife straight down, just beside the shoot. The long handle allows you to reach the white asparagus just above the crown without damaging it. The bend at the tip, the widened blade and the sharp cutting edge let you slice through the delicate asparagus with a single swift movement. Holding the tip of the asparagus lets you feel when it has been cut. Carefully pull the asparagus upwards, then gently close the hole.
Caution: Asparagus produces many shoots from a single crown over several months, so several spears at different stages of growth may be hidden in the ridge. Take care when removing the soil and cutting the asparagus to avoid damaging any shoots around the mature stalk you are harvesting.
Harvesting green asparagus is much easier, as the shoots are clearly visible and mature spears can be cut every day without difficulty.
The knife makes it easy to remove deep-rooted weeds without leaving large holes in the garden or lawn.

The handle

The axe handle is made of ashwood and ergonomically shaped, making it particularly comfortable to hold and helping to make the work easier. Its rounded back makes it especially effortless to use. Ash, a valuable raw material, grows across most of Europe, particularly in the northern foothills of the Alps, and is one of the most important hardwoods. Its wood is very dense and hard, yet highly elastic and easy to work with. Thanks to its excellent mechanical properties, ash is ideal for high-quality garden and outdoor tools. It is strong and durable, and pleasant to the touch. The wood is varnished to protect it better against moisture and dirt. Our organic digging fork is made entirely without environmentally harmful materials; even the handle is untreated and therefore free of harmful substances.
