Ash grows throughout almost all of Europe, particularly in the northern foothills of the Alps. Along with beech and oak, it is one of the most important hardwoods. Ash wood is very dense and hard, yet its high elasticity makes it easy to work with. Thanks to its excellent mechanical properties, ash is used in many different fields, including musical instrument making, equipment manufacturing, sports equipment and tool handles.
